Our research group is strongly committed to science outreach and education. We actively engage with students of all ages and the general public to promote scientific curiosity, critical thinking, and awareness of plasma science and its technological applications.
A significant part of our outreach efforts focuses on inspiring young students—especially girls—to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). In this context, we regularly participate in initiatives such as the International Day of Women and Girls in Science (February 11), as well as other educational programs at local and regional levels.
Through workshops, talks, and hands-on activities, we aim to make complex scientific concepts accessible, engaging, and relevant, fostering the next generation of scientists and innovators.

International Day of Women and Girls in Science (11F)
Annual workshops and talks for early childhood and primary school students, held since 2023. These activities are regularly organized in collaboration with local schools such as C.E.I.P. La Raza (Seville, Spain), with a special focus on promoting the role of women in science.
2023–present
Student Researcher Program
An educational initiative promoted in Dos Hermanas (Seville) and coordinated by IES Virgen de Valme. The program enables high school students to engage in real scientific research through projects supervised by researchers from the University of Seville and Pablo de Olavide University.
Over several sessions, students attend university campuses, where they work closely with researchers across multiple disciplines. The group has been actively involved in this program in recent years.
Science Fair
Participation in the Science Fair, held annually in May at Seville. This event brings together research institutions, schools, and the general public through interactive demonstrations and outreach activities.
The group has contributed regularly in recent editions, presenting hands-on plasma experiments and engaging activities for diverse audiences.

European Researchers’ Night
Participation in the European Researchers’ Night, held annually at the end of September, is part of a Europe-wide initiative to bring science closer to society.
Members of the group contribute as science communicators in collaboration with the Faculty of Physics at the University of Seville and the Institute of Materials Science of Seville. Through live demonstrations, they introduce the fascinating world of plasma—often called the fourth state of matter—showing how it glows, behaves, and appears in everyday technologies.
Visitors can observe real plasma experiments and learn how scientists analyse the light emitted by plasma to understand its properties and applications. These activities foster curiosity, hands-on learning, and direct interaction with researchers.

A Scientist in My Andalusian School
Participation in this regional outreach initiative aimed at bringing female scientists into classrooms across Andalusia to promote scientific vocations and provide visible role models for young students.
Members of the group contribute by delivering interactive, plasma-focused talks and demonstrations tailored to different educational levels.

Space Week
Participation in outreach activities at the Space Week, organized by the Faculty of Physics at the University of Seville, focused on space science and related technologies.
The group contributes by presenting plasma phenomena in space, such as those occurring in stars and planetary environments, and their importance in astrophysics and space exploration.
